“With camera in hand, I strive to explore the true essence and energy of each individual, product,
and location that I photograph, hoping to compliment by capturing all with optimum effort,
clarity, lighting, and composition. As an educated and experienced photographer, and not
forgetting to include my journey and continued pursuit to evolve as a photographic fine artist,
I approach every assignment creatively and professionally, utilizing my insight and
proven ability to convey the necessary message within the final image."
Professional Photographer Doug Heslep, offers services in California, Nevada, Florida, and Texas. His background is photographing Fashion, Editorial, Models, Actors, Beauty, Table Top, Advertising, Professional, Architectural, and Photographic Fine Art Projects. Complimented by his undergraduate and graduate studies education with emphasis in Photography from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, and almost 30 years in studio and on location experience. His goal is to provide imagery specific and unique to the individual or subject matter he is working with. Translating best to mean, he is dependable, qualified, and there are no cookie-cutter sessions!
Doug currently offers his services as a freelancer. And even though he enjoyed his past studio experience photographing product, advertising, food, architectural, people, places, his primary today is to focus on Editorial, Fashion, Models, Actors, Musicians, and Fine Art Photography. He is a people person, both with and without camera in hand. He loves the interaction with his models and muses, and client, taking pride in his ability to work with any level of experience, and being able to bring out the personality and character of those in front of his lens, in his opinion making the final image more believable and marketable. When working with Doug, the highest levels of his professionalism and integrity are always top priority to maintain and exhibit. Accused of being a perfectionist as well, he is definitely someone you want on your sideline, for that term "that's good enough" will never leave his lips. He will always strive for beyond expectation. And, although he is usually brought in on a project because of his ability to conceptualize and finalize, he considers himself a team player and welcomes the input and direction of those who represent your efforts to help assure complete satisfaction with the final result.
On a more personal closing note, sharing what Doug considers his largest accomplishment outside of his business success. He was an active single parent before the conception of his career, actually even before he started graduate school in 1986. He raised his son, Alex, currently 34, from the age of 14 months by himself. Doug proudly considers this to be the largest influence on who he is today, both personally and in business. His integrity and motivations are intact, and karma is good.
"The little league baseball coaching days, five seasons actually, were some of my favorite.
I guess I was being tested to see what I could handle! To go along with the game and practice nights
I had a booming studio, was implementing a remodeling of our home, maintained an active 'weekend warrior'
status on the Ultimate Frisbee field, and scuba diving was becoming my favorite hobby.
The best thing is it all started out with a Bang, for'my boys' won the league in their first year!"
He considers everything in his life since to be the icing on the cake.
